CTF: 3v3 or 5v5

Hello together


I asked Agrypnie and Painless yesterday for playing as a CTF team in the upcoming League.

Modes offered are 3v3 and 5v5.


So: Who is interested in building a Minsta-CTF-Team?
And who is interested in Minsta-CTF at all (because of the size of a server)??

The poll is about both: Teamsize and serversize

I wouldnt play Minsta-CTF at the league and i am also not very interested in CTF at all....

I'm not at all interested in CTF, tho as a couple of our members are I would be happy to have a CTF server. I think it should start as 3v3 with a couple of spectator slots & time will tell if that needed changing. Regards a team, I see no harm in that but it's something that'll just happen if there are enough interested people.

I voted for 3v3 Team and Server. I would have voted for 3v3 and 5v5 Team and Server, but since I don't think there are enough people to join the CTF Team for 5v5 here I voted for 3v3.

I would of course join the team!

I didn't vote because I think it would be of more concern if we even get enough players to play 5vs5. You need at least 6 or 7 active players for that, because there are always 1 or 2 people who can't play on given times...

As for the server, I can convert the 1vs1 server to a CTF-server with, let's say, 6 slots to start.

Please don't forget about this thread.

We only have 2 confirmed CTf-Minsta players for the tourney.

3 vs 3 fellas and if u r asking yourself if we have another good ctf player in our clan that maybe played ctf be4 well that's VectorAlpha
i played with him CTF long time be4 maybe he doesn't know cuz i had another name but anyway
if that's a 3vs3 server it's better for all of us but there could be another way

if we have more players we can make a thing and let them join in a kinda way cuz i don't lag anymore not even with 32 players on ToT server (i love 2.5)

so why not making that server 3vs3 and ask some tot members for a match
tavi is back he's good at CTF 2 than they should have other CTF players like fish danko and so on

You could play in the team too, I saw you on the ToT-Minsta-CTF-Server, and we all know that your aim is good. So you could play in defence.

We should post our CTF-Style all here.
I am more the attacker. As you could see in my Screenshots I always score a lot. I am a fast capper and that is important for CTF I think.

Anyone with great aim here could play as a defender, which is more or less like camping the base.
It depends on the map of course.

In addition to that I will create a thread with maps soon. I don't want to play on the standard-maps only, we should implement some custom maps.

The purpose of CTF is no fun for me.

I only join ToTs sometimes because there is no fraglimit of 30 and i can kill a lot mor ppl
Maybe i would play as a volunteer if u can't find someone else, but I would like to concentrate on FFA

One thing we have to discuss here to:

It's the using of Hook on CTF-Maps.
IMO it is bad to hooking from base to base.
On all good CTF-Servers I know the hook is disabled.
The game is more difficult and the player has to improve his movements (good training).
We also can beware our server from newbie's by this, who hooking through the maps.
So I think it is more fun and better for our skills to play without hook.
What is your opinion?

That's a good point Su. I'd never want to loose the hook on the regular server, ctf is a very different game tho. I played a little yesterday & got very bored hooking from one base to the other for 20 minutes. Personally (as a ctf noob) I think it'd be more interesting with no hook & a lower time limit. I'll not be a permanent member of a ctf team tho, so feel free to trash my opinion.

I am not sure about Hook or no hook. On one hand hook makes it a lot easier to get from enemy base back to your home-base and it's harder to frag. On the other hand, u can easily been taken out by a nex gun without using hook.
Hitscan + one hit kill is a hard combo in CTF when u don't want to risk beeing hit.

My proposal: Lets test both settings 1 or 2 days and lets decide after.

And another question: 10 shots ammo limit or not? I would like to have the limit, because the CTF-fights at ToT's are a camper paradise with so much starting ammo.

I fully agree with you Growl.
I'm almost sure that the Hook is absolutely necessary or the maps needs more power ups :-)
with a lot of good aimers It's gone be hard impossible to take the flag :-s without the hook.
It's hard as it is :-)
And about the ammo limit I'm not sure, hard to say without trying :-)
you need a lot of ammo to take down a hook using player

Kinda more like DM then. Maybe that's why I like the idea.

It would be a massacre at the map-middle....nice, bloody.... but no caps

Ive only played ctf @ q3a and my beloved map was q3ctf1 small one oh yeah that was quite fun
I was defending base with railgun & shotty and sometimes attacking with rail/shotty/plasmagun.
and I loved playing dm with railguns only on that map
had few games @ UT ctf, but like every game in UT for me I was using only sniper without zoom getting as many headshots as I could I rather dont like UT as I had fun only with sniper, no other weapons for me there
I will drop in for some ctf games if U dont mind, just want to check how it's like here

I think without hook it'll become a pro server only. It'll be exclusion for those poor souls who can't aim very well.

As much as I'd love to exclude every newbie from nexuiz. I know we need them for the game to evolve.
