I have blender installed, tho the above were still needed in addition & possibly more (why audio stuff?). I stopped because adding sym-links for libs is baaaad. Dep's & source pls. Hell, switch to Arch & provide a PKGBUILD. Very Happy

Thats strange....
Blender depends on some sound stuff (it has a built-in sequencer and an Vide-editor) and some other things,
but these should be automatically be installed with blender.
I cant provide a PKGBUILD (whatever that is) cause Im still this lazy-open-SUSE-and-Yast-using guy Wink
So, Deps? Im sorry Neutral
Source? Compile Blender! Razz (With WITH_BF_PLAYER = True in the user-config.py) ok, thats a bit too much for simple testing-stuff..
Start Blender instaed and load (F1) the scenedata file in my pack.Go with the mouse to the window where you see the 3D-things and press SHIFT + SPACE. Just press "P" now. It should start... with a bit luck.
I didnt want do it this way, cause its much slower than compiled.

P.S:: Sym-Links are bad? Oh dear! I have 1k of them! drunken

That works & no silly openal. Very Happy

Looks good m8, very good. So we'll be able to move the droid around when the animations are done?

There's nothing slow about it either, admit that you were just trying to exclude Windows users. What a Face

PS. The moving light is a nice touch. Would be great if we could have that in maps.

Yapp. Thats why I built that & thx again m[sqrt(64)]

Damn, you got me! No, Directly starting via Blender causes often some problems, but it seem to work and so:
FOR WINDOWS USER:
Start Blender and load (F1) the scenedata file in my pack.Go with the mouse to the window where you see the 3D-things and press SHIFT + SPACE. Just press "P" now. It should start... with a bit luck.

Yapp, realizing that should be no big problem, or am I wrong? DO WANT! Wink

For some reason I feel less inclined to put flip-flops on this one. What a Face

The new head & colours really help set it apart from lower class droids. Wink

Nice progress m8, I'm really looking forward to seeing it in action. Basketball bounce

It goes on:

Textures mostly 1024

Get the .blend to view it in realtime here!

Still not rigged nor animated in anyway. I'm to n00bish in animations. But let's see.

Textures:

* Diffusemap (for the colorz)
* Bumpmap (for the fine details)
* Normalmap (for the smoothing)
* Glowmap (for giving the eye a Corona)
* Shorts&Pants-map (for adding the playercolors)
* Specmap (For the win =))

Comments & Critics are always welcome.

Happy fraggin' !

Surely that's about ready to use aint it? Sure looks like it, nice work Chris. Smile

I'd feel inclined to get it in game now to have a look & take some screens of it next to some clones, doesn't need animating for that. Smile

Criticism? The rear view looks a bit peculiar, kinda sheered, other than that, WHERE'S THE BLEND? What a Face

Thank you Smile

At 1st glance I've gotta say that picture above doesn't do it much justice - this droid will rock! Twisted Evil

PS. What's written on the back of its head?

Does it seems also like that in blender? Or were it only the screenshot?

Now only rigging and I'm allready finsihed - the Pyria .blend already contains the animations bounce

It's mainly the screenshot, on close inspection only the head is off centre in blender.

As you're stealing *cough* borrowing the animations, I guess we'll be seeing it at the front line soon. Very Happy bounce

You CAN see it at the frontline now! Very Happy
- Just grab the .pk3: box.net hi7czhcey6
- Place it in the ~/.nexuiz/data/ folder-
- Start Nexuiz and type "playermodel models/player/butlerbot.zym" and "chase_active 1" in the cmd.
- Have fun!

Many thanks to toneddu2000! He applied the skeleton to the model as I was obviously too silly for that and also exported it Razz
After some fine tuning it will be ready in a few days.

Bommelbot Very Happy

Very nice m8, the textures look great in game. Cool

It's a floater tho - the feet don't quite touch the floor. pirat

HD screenie:

Regards the animation, was it rly as simple as taking it from another model?

PS. Maybe some custom gibs - splatters red stuff all over the place. What a Face I think that's supported in 2.5.2...

Here's a list of the known glitches:

  • Holding the weapon wrong
  • Weird 'idle' and 'run' pose (One may it call gay... Razz)
  • Flying without a jetpack ( = does-not-touch-floor)
  • Taunt animation is prrrretty funny. (Animation is stolen borrowed from the female Pyria model. And the taunt animation is touching her boobs there Wink)
  • Bit small overall
  • Maybe some own gores. *looking to the Quark model*
@lost: In the theory it was indeed that simple. In the practice I wasn't even able to get the skeleton working.
Scaling can be terrible. toneddu2000 was my helping hand here. (-> more info at the AT forums)

@Su: It's Jesus. He just doesn't float over water this time.

I didn't have the heart to say it. It's kinda funny & fitting tho - reminds me of c3p0. Smile

Speaking of which, have you thought of player sounds?

Yeah...the sounds..urrr. No idea how/who/when to make them...
I normally have them (taunts I mean) disabled so I won't care if they miss.

However here's an update:
box.net vp1cp704au

Only own gores missing.
The arm pose is still a bit weird while Bunnyhopping...
And the preview in the menu:

One more update:

The droid isn't gay anymore. Wink
Download the .pk3 here!
The sound is at the moment simply stolen from the Quark model Smile

@ lost: Can you upload it to the Prophets servers?
I would ask Tceins but I'm not able to contact him right now. Sad
It needs some more testing. The Releasedate I aim at is next week.
And testing with some more players shows far better if the animation is fine or not.
(Pleeeaaasse Very Happy)

I'll see what I can do. I'll strip down the pk3 a bit tho, as I did with the nex - if people want the source & original textures they can download the original package. Wink

Watch this space. Wink
