Damn, how did I miss this game? It looks & plays great.
Best of all, you can use the Darkplaces engine to play it.

as far as I remember there was no minsta/insta in first quake, maybe someone made it, but I never heard about that. anyway multiplayer was great there, I enjoyed that game as hell thats why I wanted "place of two deaths" so much in Nexuiz

That 1st video will disappear soon, what's the point of showing you a demo of someone else?
Here's one of me on that level:

Please Tony explain me and us how to tweak quake 1 that it looks like that! (as an answer to your pm )
That's the original graphic if someone don't know :

1st thing is the Darkplaces engine, get it here: http://icculus.org/twilight/darkplaces/files/darkplacesengine20090128.zip Make a new dir called quake & extract it there, Then make an id1 dir within your newly created quake dir & copy over your .pak files. You can now run it by executing one of the darkplaces binaries. You'll want to grab one of the hi res texture packs, I recommend this as a good base: http://qrp.quakeonline.net/qrp-maptextures-2007-10-06r2-7files.zip - read the readme! If you run Linux or OSX the .bat will be of little use, instead:
Code:
for f in *.link; do tga=$(< "$f"); cp "$tga" "${f%.link}".tga; done
There'll still be a few missing textures but it really shouldn't detract, you'll notice the level design isn't quite perfect anyhoo. But if you really want every texture & can't be bothered with all the above, just grab the Darkplaces engine & Rygel's high res pack: http://games.on.net/file/14291/Rygels_High_hi-res_texture_pack_for_LordHavocs_DarkPlaces_Quake_mod - While it's more complete, it's also bigger, slower & strays from the original style.
Hope that helps. The rest is down to your PC & how it copes wuth stuff like HDR.

Even easier:
- Grab the DP engine & extract it to somewhere like ~/games/quake/ - Assuming the above, create ~/games/quake/id1 & put your .pak files in there - Download my custom gfx collection: http://omploader.org/vMW9idA/lostpack.pk3 - Put that in with the .pak files, no need to extract - Exec ~/games/quake/darkplaces-whatever & enable the eyecandy.
Consider it a light-weight version of Rygel's pack that retains the original theme.

Completed it!
I only played @ normal skill & I found it quite challenging enough. I did find myself getting the pups once everything was dead tho...
Awesome game!

I found 1 hidden level, The Haunted Halls.
I only found around half the secrets, maybe I need to try it on Nightmare.
