If you have a widescreen monitor you'll notice that your text, cross-hair & HUD items are stretched & don't follow the correct aspect ratio. Additionally, if you have a large screen the HUD & text may just be too big & blurry. To fix this you only need 2 cvars, vid_conwidth & vid_conheight. The bigger you set them the smaller the HUD & text will appear, 2/3 of your screen resolution seems to work nicely.
