The Weihnachts-Poem (the christmas-poem)
When the last Kalender-sheets (calender)
flattern through the Winter-streets (flutter)
and Decemberwind is blowing,
then is everybody knowing
that it is not allzuweit: (very far)
she does come, the Weihnachtszeit. (christmas time)
All the Menschen, Leute, people (human, people,..)
flippen out of ihrem Stübel (freak out in their room)
run to Kaufhof,Aldi, Mess (kaufhof and aldi are supermarkets - mess is "exposition")
make Konsum and business. (consume and...)
Kaufen this and jenes Dings (buy this and that thing)
and the churchturmglocke rings! (bell of the curch tower oO)
Manche holen sich a Tännchen. (some get a "Tännchen" "typical christmas tree")
When this brennt, they cry: 'Attention!' (brennt = burns)
Rufen for the Feuerwehr: (call the firefighters)
'Please come quick and rescue here!'
Goes the Tännchen up in Rauch (when tree burns down and smokes oO)
they are standing on the Schlauch. (standing on the hose - german saying for "don't understand it quick"
In the kitchen of the house
mother makes the Christmasschmaus. (schmaus - feast)
She is working, schufting, bakes, (schuting = hard working)
hit is now her Yoghurtkeks. (yoghurt cookies)
And the Opa says as tester: (opa = grandpa)
'We are killed bis zu Sylvester. (bis zu sylvester = until New year's eve)
' Then he fills the last Glas Wein, (glass of wine)
yes, this is the Christmastime.
Day by day does so vergang, (vergang = go by)
and the holy night does come.
You can think,you can remember,
this is immer in December. (immer = always)
Then the childrenlein are coming (lein = cute form of words)
candle-wachs is abwärts running (candle wax is running down)
Bing of Crosby Christmas sings
while the Towerglocke rings (glocke = bell)
and the angles look so fine
Weil,this is the Weihnachtstime. (christmas time)
Baby-eyes are big and rund, (rund = round)
the family feels kerngesund, (kerngesund = extremely healthy)
when unterm Baum is hocking - (under the tree are sitting)
really nothing can them shocking.
They are happy,are so fine,
this happens in Christmastime.
The animals all in the house,
the Hund, the Katz, the bird,the mouse, (the dog, the cat, the bird, the mouse)
are turning round the Weihnachtstree (christmas tree)
weil they find Kittekat and Schappi (kittekat and schappi are cat- and dogfood)
in the Geschenkkarton von Pappi. (present carton of daddy)
The family begins to sing
and wieder does a Glöckchen ring. (and again does a bell ring) ^^
Zum Song vom grünen Tannenbaum (to the song of the green christmas tree) "oh christmas tree"
die Tränen rennen down and down - (the tears run down and down)
bis the mother plötzlich flennt: (unter the mother starts to cry)
'Die Gans im Ofen ist verbrennt!' (the goose in the oven is burnt)
because her nose is very fine
wie jedes Jahr zur Christmastime. (as every year on christmas time)
hell that sound stupid when trying to internationalize... i dont care... for those who understand german it should be really funny.. for those who dont... imagine you could understand german and all that sounds stupid is german grammar "subject - verb - object"
