| Cool hobby Marc. 10 hours per week is quite some dedication too, keep it up. Skiing & Mountain biking is what I like to do. Not skied for almost a year now, hopefully get a week or two sometime this winter. I also enjoy endurance cycling like coast to coasts & 100 mile races, tho that can wait 'till spring - too damn cold & dark now. So getting fat seems to be my hobby for the winter. Good luck with your tournament m8 | |

I never tried skiing in my live yet, but it must be a nice feeling. Problem is that i live in part of germany where we don't have much snow(almost never) and no hills/mountains for skiing If i haven't had to buy the equibment i will try it out next year maybe I can do a bit of skateboarding, maybe this helps me when i stand on ski or snowboard. Endurance cycling is a also a nice hobby, but how long it takes you to drive 100 miles ? That must be some hours?? I have a racer(the bikes with thin wheels^^) myself and drive it when i have time and the weather is nice - lost wrote:

I also played tabletennis in a club 10 years ago, but then i became interested in girls/parties and to hang around with myfriends. I think you can call it Puberty and the training weren't so important anymore. But it's fun to play when u are good, wich ligue you play? Any tips for fantasy books to read? I like them too(lord of the rings, Anne Rice books of the Vampire Lestat etc.) and I have lots of time while i am stretching legs and stuff for Taekwondo and withput a good book it gets really boring

With a few good climbs it's about 6 hours, with a few mountains it's a little more. I'm happy if I can average 16mph over such distances. ^ not much when compared to the >20mph that's seen on the tour de France tho.

not really good Its enough for the 3rd ligue ("3 Kreisliga Herren Oberfranken" to be exactly ). Its just a hobby for having fun. Books: Tip: Hohlbein is my favourite author.... you should try these one..I liked them http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anders_(Hohlbein) (<- you should fill the complete link in your URL-bar, automatic linking didnt work )

I already read something from Hohlbein before and it was a nice story, but it was a book of another series of him and i only read the middle-part oO A bit confusing. I ordered the first part from the Anders-Series from Amazon right now. I will give it a try soon - lost wrote:

But i think u don't take drugs to higher your power Except 3l of Coffee per day Hope this doesn't hurt your sportive mind...i know some bike-fans don't like it when u talk about the dark side of tour de france - N4t4s wrote:
Yes, i am german we already talked ingame, didn't we? I will give the drachenmeer book a try after i read Spohst suggestion...or maybe not if the Hohlbein books are so great i will consume the whole series in no time You have enough time for 2 sportive hobbies? I always thought tennis would be easy, but it's a lot faster in reality than on TV To be true mostly i didn't hit the court most of the time @banshee Terry Pratchett is also fantasy? Sci-Fi maybe?

| You took a wrench into a Taekwondo tournament & came 3rd? What did the other guys have, sledge hammers? Taekwondo must have changed since I last watched it on TV... Seriously tho, nice work Marc. Any future tournaments on the cards? I don't read the genre but that book has some great reviews, hope you enjoy it. I picked up 'The Wood' by Harlan Coben today, should give me something to do at work next week... | |

| There are too kinds of Taekwondo, WTF and ITF. I think you watched WTF at the TV, it's nearly 100% fighting with the legs, because u aren't allowed to hit the head with your fists. So WTF looks pretty cool and have a lot more usefull kickmoves, because u arent in danger that someone knocks u when u are turning around. ITF is what i do: You are allowed do kick and box to everywhere over the belt(just not in the back), it's around 70% to 30% more leg-action than with the fists. We have a smaller repertoir of usefull moves(it becomes more if u get faster) but u can make points with the fists, which is more realistic in my opinion. That's how i got a black eye: one kick and a fast box to the head oO....well, i was slow I will take part at the german mastership and the regional championship in Hapkido, which is similar to taekwondo...i train both sports, because it's a nice addition. I don't know if i take part at any other tournaments in the next taekwondo-future, need to train more first I read an excerpt of "The woods" and it sounds good. Maybe i will read it soon, if i don't forget. I need a good book in english, because my english isn't getting better atm^^ Need to improve a bit | |

| Thanks Hapkido is like Taekwondo a koren martialarts-system. It is mainly a selfdefense system and consists in (sry i need german language to describe it): Kicks/Boxen/Hebel/Nerventechniken/Würfe/Feger(Low Kicks)/Fallschule etc. Tournamens are rare and participants even more | |
