| I found a picture of a nice rail gun from a halflife mod & wanted it in nex. I've just started it & thought I'd share as I'm a lazy sod & need some encouragement. The pic I found: Todays progress: You guys reckon it's worthwhile - would you like to see it in game? It'd probably take a noob like me a helluva long time to complete. | |

| Thx guys, I'll keep at it then. There'll be no scope initially, primarily because Nex doesn't have a proper scope feature & I want to keep the view as unobstructed as possible (good excuses to keep my 1st project simple). Spohst - PM'd you a copy for your criticism. Everyone else can have a look when it's a bit more complete. | |

| Update: I think I'm not far from adding textures. Not done that before so it'll be interesting. If anyone wants a peek or can offer any constructive advice, here's the blend. | |

You can't open a .blend with c4d Export it in blender as .obj and import it in c4d. Back to topic: Youre learning really incredible fast, the trigger is much better now. But: You cheated a bit Wrong: Right: On the first picture the selected Vert is not connected to the edge in the middle. On the one hand thats not a good practice, on the other hand that causes strange behaviour (black flickering) in Nexuiz (as I noticed with my droid). Try to build up a mesh in which all those verts are connected properly... you have many of them of those evil verts . Tip: Use the "Merge"-tool for that Purpose (Alt+M). Ok, that will cause often Tris, but as long you don't use any SubSurf-Modelling thats completely ok & and before you export it you have to triangulate the whole mesh though. Another tip: In some cases its better to model things seperate and just plug them into the mesh (without connectiong them). Saves time and Polys. Example: The notch on top of the weapon. Otherwise: Very good work! | |

| Thanks Marc. Guess I'm a jack of all trades & master of nothing. Taking a break from it atm, kinda got square eyes yesterday. I'll work on a few tweaks & Spohst's mention tomorrow & then it'll be texture time (which I find a bit daunting, never textured more than the default blender cube). Maybe I'll call it the growler nex. | |

| You are too kind Domi. I spent a fair bit of time on it yesterday cleaning up those evil verts Spohst pointed out & adding some detail before sending it to him for an MOT. Some surfaces were found to display incorrectly which he kindly fixed & it came back with some additional rendering options. Here's how it's looking now: & here's the blend. Officially time to start with texturing.... tomorrow. | |

| Hehe, I'm not. It's nice to see the model finished & exciting to know I'm one step closer to a new nex. Something tells me that making the model is probably the easy part for a total noob like me tho. & Thx for your support m8, I hope there's enough space in your inbox for noob texture questions. | |
