| heyho! (Note: thers also a thread in the PK-forum - I'll show it here also coz of lost's wish) I want to create a new playermodel for Nexuiz, and to post here the progress of the model..... What I do, and how long does it take? - I create a highdetailed model.... - ..and build a version with lower poly-count out of this... - ...and painting the textures. ( !) - Then I have to animate it.. - and jamming it in our holy father: the darkplaces-engine. Thats much work,so it will take some months... Heres the actual stand: (And yes, I t becomes somrthing like a droid;) ) Just to let you know: Thats the Highpoly - means: not the one you see then ingame - its too detailed. Critic is very welcome - you dont have to say "nice" all the time | |

| Thanks for posting here, it adds a bit of creative spice. I think it's coming along nicely. The only criticism I can think of is the missing pelvis... I guess you're aware of that. If you're aiming for a droid clone, maybe look at the scale of the limbs. Keep up the great work! | |

| nice But....if u want some critism, then i have to say that the feets doesn't look good. I don't really know why and maybe its just because of the actual viewing point, but i think they are to small(or even the form?) and he can't stand on them. It looks like Star Wars so the look it nearly final anyway and i think that's why everyone says nice | |

| heyho! I think the HighPoly is finished... (Please say everything you dont like t'ill now! ) Still ToDo (in chronological order):
- Building the Low-Poly - means taking the current HighPoly as somekind of a 3D-sketch and reducing more and more details till the polycount goes down to 3000 or something. (its at 316933 at the moment ) takes hopefully only some days...
- Baking Textures - We take again the HifgPoly and "baking" now the Normalmaps -> The Details are still there, but are "saved" now in a texture and are usable for the LowPoly.
- Painting: - I just take GIMP and try to get some nice textures..(hopefully) - takes looooong.
- Animating - Oh... Im bad in animations - takes even looooooonger.
- Jamming it into the engine - Importing it in Nexuiz and doing a package for the server. - Im a idiot, so it takes probaly also looong xD
- THE END - takes !loooong
Doesnt matter if you didnt understood that Heres the update of today: (ahmm I just noticed that one finger is somewhere else as its supposed to be..ignore it ) Refernce: Anybody wants to play with it in 3D? cu P.S: Forget the feets they are really looking like that.. :/

| Looking very good m8. Scale is better, slightly longer thighs & chunkier fingers would fine tune it tho. Other than that, just centring the knee & ankle joints should do the trick. Even after the above nitpicking, I didn't notice the thumb - shows what I know. A play in 3D? Sure! I have no experience, but I wouldn't mind seeing what this Blender thing does. | |

| I think the middlepiece which combines the upper part with the legs should be thicker. (Der Steg der aus dem Torso kommt) And the Pelvis where the legs start maybe a bit wider. That would give a more solid look like the one on the pictures...
And also at the legs, the thighs are shorter than the the lower. That's uncommon and I think normally they are at least equal

| For the play in 3D: (I love this rhyme )
- Download blender and install it.
- Download my file and save it.
- Start Blender -> You'll get the Standard Startscreen: a cube.
- Press F1 -> A OpenFile Window apperars -> navigate to the place where you saved my .blend and select it with RMB. -> Click the OpenFile in the right upper corner.
- You'll see the droid -> Press SHIFT + F to fly around a bit..Find a good perspective and press F12 and after some minutes (er...warning: I have a quadcore and a SSE3 optimized blenderbuild - it will render perhaps more then the 1minute here ) you'll get a fine image like I post them here. Feel free to play around a bit.
And thx for the critic - I changed it. cu

| hahaha, I had to laugh when I saw this pic... You can solve the "I dont see the head"-problem very easy : You see in your camera two pointed lines: The second line ("2"!) says you what you'll see in the render then Means the head and the legs just were not in the Camera view EDIT: Very cool picture! | |

| Blender has a steep learning curve, in an hour all I managed to do is mess up your model. It took 1min, 26sec to render - pretty impressive how it kicked all cores up to 100% - not many app's do that. Anyhoo, I made a quick wallpaper with the render.

| And another update: The (unoptimized) Lowpoly in a early version: Nearly exact 5000 tris... needs some improvement. Critics & Comments please. cu | |
