hey dudes as some of u guys know i'm making a nexuiz video and i need nome demos,shots whatever u have....well the best u have

Maybe u should check 666-Gallery or the PK-Forum for Screens?

I made some demos during some rounds, but i they arent really special and i was nervous and played bad *lol*

How to Upload my demos?

I know what you mean Marc, enabling the demo recording resulted in demos suitable for a comedy here.

You might not have them enabled in nexuiz.

Theres a section in 2.4 + where you can select demo recording on.

It's in settings and the furthest tab to the right I think.

FFmpeg can also capture the screen in Linux & it'll convert anything to anything on any OS.

I can only view your agressor one, I can't see the map in the others. I noticed the same on a couple of my own demos. Is this what you get with mine too?

Maybe we're doing something wrong? I'm out for the afternoon so I'll have a look later.

I have have the same problems with my own demos, but it helps if u start it again...sometimes then the level-graphic appears

PS. Using the official 2.4.2 release, doubt it makes a difference...

The map files have to be transferred to your new nexuiz folder, if it's to do with using a different release to what you are usually using.

But using different releases will sometimes give you some screwed up textures, like the particles on a 2.3 demo turn into multicolored question mark boxes on 2.4

yeah that happened to me too.

for long time Im playing on 2.4 version, I really don't like the commentary on 2.4.2 and most of my demos are on 2.4. I can dig a bit to find some really nice matches if U still need some demos/nice shots.

I wouldn't mind knowing how you did that so smoothly. I did similar once using waits, obviously that wasn't ideal.

Bind a change of player model to your fire, jump & direction keys, that's always a good one.

If you still can't play the demos & still want to make the vid, try the current development release or checkout from SVN. The alientrap forum has all the info you'd need for this.

Or chuck that mac out the window & send us a vid of that.

well growl pretty bad cuz i can't open the demos u gave me but my only hope is recording u while u're playing and hoping u do nice shots

ahhh found read what i wrote for growl and if u can help me by doing some videos but record them with a program like screenflow or programs for the os u use

Should play in anything that doesn't have trouble with bframes. I've gone OTT with the resolution & bitrate so you'll have room whilst editing & re-encoding.

FYI, it's very easy to make, no stupid FRAPS-like software needed. You just need to issue these console commands:

cl_capturevideo 1
playdemo /demos/your-demo.dem
stopdemo

That'll create an avi within nexuiz/data/video/ that's totally unprocessed & without compression. From there you'll need to compress it by whatever method you're comfortable with. I used an Ffmpeg script that I made for encoding HD material.

The recording & encoding took no more than 10 minutes combined, uploading took twice that.

Does the cl_capturevideo 1 command convert the next played *.dem file into and *.avi one?
Maybe u said that already, but i want to ask for sure.

So we could still use our recored demo and just convert them? If its only take 10 minutes for an average game theres no problem not to convert 1 or 2 per day.

Painless u finally using SVN release now?

It will dump whatever is displayed, whether that be a real game, a demo or just the menu. It will cause some slowdown as the resulting file is huge (you'll need at least 10GB free space), so it's not suitable for live play. It will indeed convert *.dem into huge avi's.

10 min's is relative to a lot of factors. Let me know if you've any problems, I'll gladly do the encoding - I built this rig for it.
